Russia Culture-cancels a 24 Year Relationship with Bard College. The Excuse? George Soros.

Well, lookie here. Russia’s antisemitic cancel culture comes to the fore.

I have a relationship with Bard College in upstate New York because of it’s summer music festival, which I annually attend and support with donations. I was shocked to read this yesterday:

MOSCOW, June 21 (Reuters) - Russian state prosecutor's office said on Monday it banned Bard College, a U.S. non-governmental organisation, after labelling it "undesirable".

The Russian foreign ministry said in April it would end the activity in Russia of U.S. funds and NGOs which it believed interfere in the country's internal affairs, in retaliation to an array of U.S. government sanctions imposed on Moscow. read more

The state prosecutor's office said that the activity of educational NGO Bard College "represents the threat to the constitutional order and security of Russian Federation".

Bard began an educational exchange program with St. Petersburg University 24 years ago, which grew into a full fledged liberal arts degree college, the first in Russia, in which degrees were earned by Russian students and Americans in exchanges with shared faculty. It is now illegal and punishable in Russia for anyone to have any dealings with Bard at all. And all writings must be confiscated. They have been officially culture-cancelled.

And the excuse? George Soros (sound familiar?):

Last year Soros made a $500 million gift to Bard. His “International NGO’s” pose a threat to the security of the Russian nations, says the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Where have we heard this before in Russia? Maybe from those who gave us “The Elders of Zion”?

Perhaps all that antisemitic Soros nonsense we’ve been getting here can be sourced to Russian disinformation/propaganda targeted to the US.
